Why use this tool
Built for tiny limits
The 20 KB target is preset for signature and small photo fields, which have some of the strictest upload rules.
Reports every change
You see the final file size and pixel dimensions, so you know whether the image was scaled down to fit.
Signatures stay readable
Simple dark-on-white signatures usually compress well, keeping clean strokes even at very small file sizes.
Supported formats
Use cases
Signature upload fields
Exam, scholarship and government application forms often ask for a scanned signature under 20 KB. Shrink a phone photo of your signature to fit.
Strict photo limits
Some portals cap applicant photos at 20 KB. Compress a cropped headshot so it meets the limit and stays recognizable.
Thumb impressions and initials
Forms that ask for a thumb impression or initials as an image usually have tiny limits too. Fit the scan without rescanning.
Technical details
20 KB is very small. A typical phone photo is many times larger, so reaching this target almost always means reducing pixel dimensions as well as quality. Pixellin first searches for the highest JPG quality under 20 KB, and if that isn’t enough it scales the image down step by step, then reports the final size and dimensions. Nothing is changed silently, so you can confirm the result meets any other rules on the form.
For signatures, crop tightly around the ink before compressing, because empty paper still costs bytes; the Crop Image tool handles that. Sign with a dark pen on plain white paper and photograph it in even light. A clean, high-contrast signature at modest dimensions fits under 20 KB with sharp strokes. If the form also requires a minimum size or exact dimensions, check its instructions before uploading.

Frequently asked questions
How do I reduce a signature image to 20 KB?
Photograph or scan your signature, crop it close to the ink, and add it here. Keep the 20 KB target and JPG output, then select Process. Check that the strokes are clear in the result before you download it.
Why is my 20 KB image so small in pixels?
Because 20 KB holds very little data. When lowering quality isn’t enough, Pixellin reduces the width and height step by step until the file fits, and reports the final dimensions. Cropping away empty space first leaves more of the budget for detail.
My form needs a file between 10 and 20 KB. Will this work?
The tool looks for the highest quality under 20 KB, so results often land close to the limit rather than far below it. Check the reported size; if it falls under the minimum, try a less tightly cropped original or a larger target with the exact-size tool.
Should I use JPG or WebP for a 20 KB upload?
Use JPG. Government and exam portals with strict limits typically list JPG or JPEG as the accepted format, and some reject anything else. WebP output is available here, but only choose it if the form explicitly allows it.
Is it safe to process my signature with this tool?
Your signature isn’t uploaded at all. It’s processed inside your browser, and no copy is stored on any server or used for AI training. That matters for something as sensitive as a signature, which could otherwise be misused.
