Why use this tool
Fill transparency
Place a transparent PNG or WebP on any solid color, so it displays correctly in apps that show transparency as black.
Swap plain backdrops
A solid background color is removed first, then replaced with the color you pick.
Uniform product sets
Give a whole batch the same backdrop so listings and catalogs look consistent.
Supported formats
Use cases
White marketplace backgrounds
Many online marketplaces ask for product photos on pure white. Swap a light gray studio backdrop for #FFFFFF across a whole batch.
Logos on brand color
Put a transparent logo onto your brand color to make a profile picture or a simple social post tile.
Fixing black transparency
Some apps and older viewers show transparent areas as black. Filling them with white makes the image look as intended.
Technical details
The tool works in two situations. If the image already has transparency, the transparent areas are filled with your color. If it has a solid or near-solid background, that color is removed first and then replaced. It’s not an AI tool: it can’t separate a person from a living room or a car from a street. Backgrounds with gradients, shadows or texture won’t be replaced cleanly. Because the result has no transparency, it can be saved as JPG as well as PNG or WebP. To keep the background transparent instead, use Remove Solid Background.
Your files stay with you
This tool runs entirely inside your browser using Web Workers and WebAssembly. Your images are never uploaded, never stored on a server and never used to train AI. Close the tab and they’re gone. Learn more
Frequently asked questions
Can I change the background of any photo?
Only when the background is transparent or a solid, plain color. It works for product shots on seamless paper, logos and scanned signatures. It can’t isolate a person or object from a busy scene, because it doesn’t use AI to detect subjects.
How do I make a product photo background pure white?
Add photos shot on a plain light backdrop, choose white as the new color and process. The original backdrop is removed and replaced with solid white. Shadows and uneven lighting may leave faint traces, so start with evenly lit photos.
Why does my transparent PNG show a black background?
The app displaying it doesn’t support transparency and shows those pixels as black. Fill the transparent area with white or another color here, and the image will look the same everywhere, including in apps, email clients and older viewers.
What format should I save in?
With a solid background, JPG is usually the smallest choice for photos and is accepted almost everywhere. PNG suits logos and graphics with sharp edges and flat colors. WebP is smaller than both for most images, if the destination accepts it.
