How it works

  1. 01Drop, choose or paste the SVG files you want to minify.
  2. 02Choose a decimal precision for path data, or keep the default.
  3. 03Select Process and check the size saved on each file.
  4. 04Download each SVG or select Download all to get a ZIP.

Why use this tool

Looks the same

At normal decimal precision, minification changes the code, not the drawing. Icons and logos render identically.

Removes editor clutter

Editor metadata, comments and hidden elements are removed using SVGO’s safe defaults.

Adjustable path precision

Choose how many decimals path coordinates keep. Fewer decimals shorten the file; too few can shift small details.

Use cases

Icon sets for a web app

Minify a folder of exported icons before adding them to a project, so the bundle and inline markup stay lean.

Logos from design tools

Vector logos exported from design software often carry editor data and comments. Remove them before handing files to a developer.

Inline SVG in HTML or CSS

Smaller SVG code means less markup when you paste an icon directly into a page or turn it into a data URI.

Technical details

An SVG is a text file: XML that describes shapes, paths and colors. Design tools often add editor metadata, comments, hidden layers and coordinates with many decimal places. Pixellin runs SVGO with safe defaults to remove that material and shorten path data. Because the drawing instructions stay the same, the result is visually identical at normal precision, so minification is lossless in practice. Savings depend on how much clutter the original contains.

Precision is the one setting to watch. Rounding coordinates to fewer decimals makes paths shorter, but on very small or detailed icons it can nudge points enough to notice, so compare the preview. To embed a minified icon directly in CSS or HTML, the Data URI Generator creates a URL-encoded data URI that is usually smaller than Base64. Keep an unminified copy of any SVG you plan to edit again later.

Frequently asked questions

Does compressing an SVG reduce quality?

Not at normal precision. SVGO removes metadata, comments and hidden elements and shortens numbers in path data, but the shapes are drawn the same way. Only very aggressive rounding of decimals can move points enough to see on small, detailed icons.

What does SVGO remove from an SVG file?

With safe defaults it removes editor metadata, comments and hidden elements, and it shortens path data to the decimal precision you choose. Visible shapes, colors and the overall drawing are kept as they were.

Why are SVG files from design tools so large?

Because an SVG is text, every editor note, unused element and long decimal coordinate adds bytes. Exports often include data the editor uses to reopen the file. None of it is needed to display the graphic in a browser.

Is SVG better than PNG for logos?

Usually, for flat logos and icons, because SVG scales to any size without blurring and is often smaller once minified. Complex artwork with photographic detail is better as PNG or another raster format. Our PNG vs SVG comparison covers the details.
