Why use this tool
Share-friendly size
TIFF files from scanners and editors are often tens of megabytes. JPG keeps the photo looking the same at a fraction of the size.
Accepted by uploads
Websites, marketplaces and social apps rarely accept TIFF. JPG is the format nearly every upload form expects.
Private by design
Scans of personal documents and photos are processed in your browser and never sent to a server.
Supported formats
Use cases
Digitized photo albums
Photo scanning services often deliver high-resolution TIFF files. Convert copies to JPG to post them online or send them to family, and keep the TIFF originals as masters.
Print files for the web
A designer hands over a TIFF meant for print. Convert it to JPG for the website, a newsletter or a product listing.
Uploading a scan to a form
Government and job portals often reject TIF attachments. A JPG version of the scanned page is accepted and much quicker to upload.
Technical details
TIFF is a flexible container used for printing, scanning and archiving. Files can be uncompressed or use lossless compression such as LZW, which keeps them large. JPG uses lossy photo compression, so a scanned print typically shrinks many times over. At the default quality of 90 the result looks like the original at normal viewing size. JPG and JPEG are the same format.
A TIFF can hold several pages. Pixellin converts the first page only, so split multi-page documents first if you need every page. Colors are converted to sRGB, which suits screens but may shift colors from print-oriented profiles slightly. Transparent areas are filled with white by default, and you can pick another color. Scanner and camera metadata stored in the TIFF is not copied to the JPG.
Your files stay with you
This tool runs entirely inside your browser using Web Workers and WebAssembly. Your images are never uploaded, never stored on a server and never used to train AI. Close the tab and they’re gone. Learn more
Frequently asked questions
How do I convert a TIF file to JPG?
TIF and TIFF are the same format with a shorter extension. Drop the .tif file on this page, keep or adjust the quality, select Process and download the JPG. It works the same for one file or a batch of up to 200.
What happens with a multi-page TIFF?
Only the first page is converted to JPG. Multi-page TIFFs are common for faxes and scanned documents, so if you need the other pages, export them as separate files from your scanning or viewing software first.
Will the JPG look worse than my TIFF?
At quality 90 the difference is rarely visible on screen. JPG does discard some detail, so keep your TIFF as the archival master and use the JPG for sharing, web pages and email.
Why do colors look slightly different?
TIFF files made for print can carry CMYK data or wide-gamut color profiles. Pixellin converts output to sRGB, the standard for screens, so saturated colors may shift slightly compared with what a print-focused editor displays.
