Why use this tool

Exact pixel output

Output matches the width × height you enter, which is the check upload forms and marketplaces actually run.

Three ways to fit

Crop to fill, Fit inside with padding, or Stretch. You decide what happens when the proportions don't match.

Padding that blends

Fit inside can pad with a solid color or a blurred copy of the image, so the bands look intentional.

Supported formats

Use cases

ID and visa photos

An application portal asks for exactly 600 × 600 px. Crop to fill gives a square without distorting your face; check the portal's framing rules too.

Marketplace listings

A store requires 1000 × 1000 product images on white. Fit inside with white padding keeps the whole product visible in the square.

Fixed template slots

A website template, slide or certificate has a 1200 × 400 image slot. Crop to fill turns any photo into that exact strip.

Technical details

When the target shape matches the original, the image is simply scaled. When it doesn't, say a 4:3 photo going into a 1:1 square, something has to give. Crop to fill scales the image until it covers the whole box and trims the overflow. Fit inside scales the image until it fits entirely, then fills the empty bands with a color or a blurred copy of the image. Stretch changes the proportions to fill the box, which distorts faces and circles, so keep it for textures or graphics where that doesn't matter.

Exact sizes are a common requirement for ID photos, marketplace listings and government forms. Many of those forms also cap the file size, so after resizing you may need Compress to 50 KB or a similar target. Our guide to photos for online forms walks through both steps. Output can stay in the original format or be saved as JPG, PNG or WebP.

Frequently asked questions

How do I resize an image to exact dimensions without stretching it?

Enter the width and height, then choose Crop to fill or Fit inside instead of Stretch. Crop to fill trims the edges to match the new shape. Fit inside keeps the whole image and adds padding in a color or a blurred background.

What is the difference between crop to fill and fit inside?

Crop to fill covers the entire box, so there's no padding but some edges are cut off. Fit inside shows the whole image, so nothing is lost but empty bands appear above and below or at the sides. Crop suits photos; fit suits products and documents.

How do I resize a photo to 600 × 600 pixels?

Enter 600 for the width and 600 for the height. If the photo isn't square, Crop to fill trims the longer side so the result is a true square. Download it and check the dimensions shown before uploading to the form.

Why is my image smaller or blurry at the exact size?

If the original is smaller than the target, Don't enlarge smaller images, which is on by default, stops it from being upscaled. Turn it off when a form insists on exact pixels, but expect a softer result, since enlarging can't add real detail.

Is it safe to resize ID photos here?

Yes. The photo is resized inside your browser and never uploaded, so no server receives your face or document details. Resized files also leave out EXIF metadata such as GPS location. The image stays in the tab's memory until you close it.
